| MCE Guide to Planning Your Rebuild |

Shipping
MCE has found two methods work quickest and easiest for shipping small
race engines.
Be sure and drain all fluids from the engine. Your carrier may not accept an engine containing transmission oil. Pick-Up / Delivery There are occasions in which MCE can pick up and deliver an engine or racebike rather than have it shipped. If you race in California then there is a possibility that MCE can accomodate you at the racetrack. Please call for more information. Space is quite limited. Ordering Parts A complete engine rebuild uses a few major parts and lots of minor ones. A complete list of parts for Honda and Yamaha 125s can be found with the MCE Parts Order Agent. You should have all of these parts ordered ahead of time to ensure the quickest turn-around time for your rebuild. Turn Around Times MCE completes work orders in the order that they are received. The first engine in line will be the first engine shipped out. A typical turn around, from door to door, is three weeks. Re-Installing Your Engine If you own a late model Honda RS125 then you will need to have a proper selection of shims available for re-installing your engine. It is rare that an engine installs properly with the same shims it came out with. A malaligned engine can lead to a cracked frame and robs horsepower. Be prepared with a full complement of engine mounting shims. Breaking-In Your Rebuilt Engine In order to ensure the reliability and longevity of your new engine you need to plan on breaking it in properly. This involves 3 complete heat cycles and 40 track miles at engine speeds of less than 10,000 RPM. Your heat cycles should warm the engine all the way up to 70C, and cool it completely to ambient. Avoid loading and bogging the engine during your first track session, and don't use 6th gear unless your final gearing is fairly short. Having Fun Hey, that's what it's all about, right? Rushing to get things done at the last minute is stressful and conducive to errors. And that isn't fun! Plan far enough ahead to leave enough time for everything.
